A successful gathering

Beth Britton

Looking back on UM J-Day yesterday, I am thankful that I was able to spend even a little time with other advisers from throughout the state. So often I feel isolated in this profession because no one else in the building — or really the district — can relate to the challenges and stresses (and joys) of advising publications. I just wish we had more time to talk and work with one another. So, I am going to look into having an adviser workshop in the future. As I said yesterday to some of you, I enjoy traveling to places like Washington, Texas and Iowa for camps, but I truly think we could be learning a lot from one another.

Thanks to everyone who came to UM yesterday. My students enjoyed their classes — and their time at Rockin’ Rudy’s, of course. I think the variety of classes was good, and as we move forward I think having even more hands-on classes will be valuable.

If you have any suggestions for future J-Day events, please drop me an e-mail and let me know. Jule Banville and I will be working on next year’s event to make it the most valuable time for you and your students.

Enjoy the rest of your school year and spring. We woke up this morning to quite the blizzard and lots of snow falling. Finally we are having winter in Central Montana.
