The downward slope

Beth Britton

Now that the UM Journalism Day has come and gone, advisers across the state are preparing for the release of their yearbooks and the writing and designing of final newspaper issues. I’m also figuring out where and when to attend yearbook camp — and a potential newspaper and photography camp. Is it bad that summer is still nine weeks away and I am already bemoaning the fact that my summer schedule is filling up? One step at a time, I guess. I find it strange that the longer I work as a publications adviser the easier it is for me to get flustered and unable to focus on the 6-8 projects that we all juggle at any given time.

Thanks to everyone who came to Missoula. You will be receiving information soon about a yearbook and/or newspaper critique service that I am hoping to start — utilizing advisers in neighboring states. Your MJEA membership would pay for those critiques. You’ll hear more soon.

Enjoy spring, everyone. I am looking forward to spring break — especially since I look out the window today (on April 3) at the falling snow.
