Yearbook Contest open for entries: The 2019 Yearbook Excellence Contest is now open for entries. This year’s contest is again all digital, and the final deadline won’t be until Oct. 10, but if you have time between now and the end of the semester, go ahead and enter.
New Q&S T-shirts: The 2019-2020 t-shirt is ready for you to celebrate journalism and truth telling. The first set of orders is open through Sept. 15 for delivery by Oct. 15, but we can ship in two weeks once we get our first 100 t-shirts ordered. So order now for the earliest possible delivery. All profits will go to the Quill and Scroll Scholarship fund.
Q&S provides feedback, chance for Gallup Award: The 2019 News Media Evaluation service for print, online and multi-platform publications is now open for entry. Quill and Scroll offers four different types of evaluations, depending on your needs and budget. The top publications will receive the prestigious Gallup Award, reserved for those publications that meet the highest criteria in every category. Here are the four types of critiques you can receive:
- COMPREHENSIVE NEWS MULTIMEDIA. Do you have a news magazine, a website and social media associated with both? Submit multiple media for a full evaluation of your entire news and journalism programs. These critiques include extensive comments from your evaluator. (Fee is $150 for a comprehensive evaluation.)
- COMPREHENSIVE SINGLE NEWS MEDIUM. Submit a single medium (newspaper, news magazine or online news site) for a full evaluation. These critiques include extensive comments from your evaluator. (Fee is $80 per medium.)
- RATINGS-ONLY MULTIMEDIA. Submit your multimedia news operation for a ratings-only evaluation. These critiques include no comments from your evaluator. (Fee is $80.)
- RATINGS-ONLY SINGLE NEWS MEDIUM. Submit a single medium (newspaper, news magazine or online news site) for a ratings-only evaluation. These critiques include no comments from your evaluator. (Fee is $55.)
