Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year

Beth Britton, Adviser, C. M. Russell High School

Since before school started in late August, my newspaper and yearbook students have been busy planning coverage, photographing events and redesigning pages, and the first month of school has come and gone.

For those of us who advise publications, the craziness has just begun. I sometimes wonder why it is that arriving at school at 7 a.m. and leaving at 6 p.m. is something I enjoy, but I really do. (well, usually…) We are all, in my opinion, lucky to work with some of the most creative students in our buildings. Their dedication to the school’s publications is great to see, and I hope that they appreciate all that each of you do daily to help them produce quality publications.

As the sole journalism teacher in my building I have come to appreciate the camaraderie and support that I get from my journalism colleagues throughout the state and the country.

I encourage you to join the MJEA. Take our survey and help us create an organization that will help all of us perform our jobs successfully and find support from the people in Montana who can relate to the crazy lives we lead.

Thanks for all you do for your publications students. I look forward to visiting with you.
