LETTER FROM JUSTIN at JEA
Hello JEA Members of Montana,
Your state director is especially important in connecting journalism teachers/media advisers to the national organization and providing support and outreach. The director has the opportunity to work with members, affiliate organizations and a professional network of other state directors.
Perhaps this is the opportunity you’ve been looking for in terms of getting more involved and serving in a leadership capacity. I hope you’ll consider applying for the position. The state director role involves communicating with members to share information, answer questions, hear ideas, make suggestions on a national level and more. The director also finds ways to reach out throughout the state, helping new or inexperienced advisers get the resources they need in order to survive and thrive in the journalism classroom. In all of these efforts, I’m here for suggestions and support — as are all of the JEA board members.
A few times each year are especially important for state directors: meeting in person at the spring and fall national conventions, and coordinating the state Journalist of the Year contest.
If this spot on JEA’s leadership team sounds like a good fit, please check out the state director job description.
