QUIZ BOWL changes for convention

FROM: Sarah Nichols, JEA

We’re approaching that all-important “back to school” time with lots of great JEA news to share. One aspect of our convention programming that has changed slightly is our quiz bowl, so I wanted to update you on that topic and ask for your help in passing along the information sooner rather than later.

The National Journalism Quiz Bowl now has a qualifying aspect done virtually long before the convention. This is a great way for schools to prove they qualified for a national competition as another way to convince administrators or gain field trip/travel approval.

Here’s the complete description and explanation online of how the qualifying exam will take place. The one-week testing window online to qualify for the fall convention is Sept. 19-23, so we want advisers to have this information ahead of time to plan accordingly.

Nancy Smith will handle administrative aspects for the qualifying exam in her role as Contests chair, so you can always reach out with questions ([email protected]).

April van Buren ([email protected]) will continue to run the Quiz Bowl event and the on-site aspects, promotion, recognition for the winning teams, etc.
